Step 1 — Candidate Information Form
Collects learner background, training goals, and prior learning/workshop exposure overview.
Step 2 — Language Task
Reading and writing activity contextualised to automotive preparation:
- Reading a simple WHS sign in the workshop and writing a short response.
- Learners complete a simple workshop service log, adding short notes as they practice in the real world.
Step 3 — Literacy Task
Reading comprehension and written response aligned with ACSF levels for AUR10120:
- Reading a short workshop safety policy and answering practical questions to check the learners’ understanding.
- Learners also write a quick, simple workplace message (e.g., reporting a hazard to a supervisor).
Step 4 — Numeracy Task
Practical, trade-relevant numeracy tasks:
- Measuring tyre tread or fluid levels.
- Calculating ratios for coolant mixtures.
- Simple WHS calculations (load limits, torque values).
Step 5 — Digital Task
Assessing a candidate’s ability to work with simple digital tools, just like they experience in the workshop.
- Using a tablet to complete a workshop checklist.
- Follow step-by-step online instructions for completing a task.

Step 6 — Mapping Document
